The Idaho Children & Nature Network is a coalition of diverse agencies, organizations and private citizens united in the common cause of empowering all Idahoans to lead healthy lives by developing a sense of place in Idaho’s outdoors.

Boise Parks & Recreation's Youth Scholarship Fund

The Boise Parks & Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund helps ensure that all young people in Boise have the same opportunity to participate in positive activities and interact with their peers without economic discrimination. Scholarships are available for youth in our community who experience hardship.

Boise Rec Fest will proudly be serving only Idaho Potatoes

Idaho Wines Garden

Boise Rec Fest, in partnership with Boise Co-Op and the Idaho Grape Growers and Wine Producers Commission, will feature the following Idaho Wines (more coming soon).

Beer Garden

Pabst Blue Ribbon, Sierra Nevada and Mike's Hard Lemonade will be served in partnership with Boise Co-Op and Hayden Beverage.

Our beer garden will feature Pabst's "One-Handed Games," including horseshoes, bocce ball, a bean bag toss and a life-sized Connect Four.

 

 

   

Greening Boise Rec Fest

Boise Rec Fest is partnering with Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly, and other local and national organizations to create procedure to minimize our impact to the park and the environment.


The following are examples of the types of policies Boise Rec Fest is working on creating:

  • Minimize exhibitor impact to the park's grassy areas and trees.
  • Minimize waste and maximize recycling.
  • Prevent water damage.
  • Minimize energy use.
  • Minimize motorized travel to the event and promote non-motorized travel in daily life.
   

Exhibitors

Boise Rec Fest anticipates approximately including 100+ informational exhibits.  All vendors must have some form of recreational tie-in supporting the mission of promoting health and an active lifestyle.

Activities

Through activities, Boise Rec Fest will allow attendees to experience and learn firsthand about recreation.

Activities may be open to all attendees, or tailored for specific groups such as children or individuals with disabilities. Examples of activities include disc golf, volleyball, tennis, basketball, skate boarding, horseshoes, climbing wall, soccer and Geocaching.

Youth Zone

A youth zone will feature a variety of activities for play and education.

Exhibition Games

A large exhibition space in the existing soccer fields area will offer lessons, clinics and demonstrations of team sports.

Workshops

Through workshops, Boise Rec Fest will allow attendees to experience and learn firsthand about recreation.

Boise Rec Fest will feature two workshop tents; one for educational presentations and the other for participatory activities for a variety of ages and abilities.

Workshops may be interactive, demonstrations, lectures, speakers or presentations. Examples of topics include bicycle maintenance, fly fishing, Dutch oven cooking, self-defense, golf lessons, baseball clinics, avalanche awareness and wilderness survival.
